The Fallen of Naga

Si and metal rod with gold paint,

The work speaking about the collapsing of toxic masculinity and roughly talks about the military government. Si is the fishing equipment that spiritually has another meaning, which Si could bring money for the people. Moreover, Si's shape is similar to the small wooden image of a penis that is a spiritual item in my culture. I use the curved shape of the metal rod as the body of the Naga and the broken Si as the head to show men's downfall.

I am using Cha-lom, which is the Thai basket, to be the symbol of gifts. The Sai-sin or white ropes to be both spiritual connection and physical connection between objects. The work shows the patronage system in Thai society—the consequence of the system in the long term corruption.

Distinction Reflection

The work speaks explicitly about the class disparities through the Kra-dong, the agricultural equipment, and Thai rice. The Kra-Dong with gold leaves shows the idea of higher social status ambitions reflecting the original one. The rice and the dust of rice showing how different each person thinks about another.

Feudalism, Sticky Rice

Sticky rice containers, from full with gold leaves guardian to the plain one, are my feudalism structure and reflect people in each status. The horizontally installed means the people's equal and speaks that everyone has to eat the sticky rice.

The House of Domination

House of Domination speaks about monarchy's role that reflects the god-king idealism in Thailand. The golden spiritual house referred to the monarchy, which is the highest status, rice as the people. The broken plates, bent spoons, and forges are about the quality of living: the Sai-Sin or white ropes showing the connection of people, quality of living, and the monarchy.

Thai People's Ammo inspires the events that soldiers and police used live rounds ammo on the people. In this work, the ammo can contain rice, which is the Thai people's ammo in my perspective, to pay back to the government.

Project: Balancing I have studied the path of how to solving and living with psychological issues.I discovered that one of the useful methods is living in a middle way, ทางสายกลาง, which is roughly translated to balancing. It is the philosophy that I had learned when I was Buddhist monk back in Bangkok, Thailand. I think of it as not too heavy, not too light; not too tall, and not too short; not too beautiful, but still beautiful. It is about simplicity. I decided to put the idea สจธรรม (rough translation: the truth) into a visual language through two methods: photograph and installation. I took these photographs in natural environments, to show how balance exists naturally. In the installation I use simple found objects, including wood, metal, and plastic. I let them lay down and touching on each other without collapsing. If one part is moved the rest will fall. These two ideas of natural and recycled are contrasting but also the same- speaking to the idea of truth and balance. Even though they are different materials, and they could stand together with balancing as same as how to live a life. This is a larger symbol of trying to live a life with psychological problems.

Project: Conversations Today social media consumes half of human life. According to Statista, 2.65 billion people are using online social applications. They have to create their own identity in the media application, which exists on phones and computers. People are living with social media and tend to ignore the reality of the world around them. I have also used social media such as Facebook, and I have found something that is unusual. One kind of post that all Instagram and Facebook users do is copying and saving the images that are from the scenes from famous movies. I have found that social media users have a habit of posting movie scenes. That habit could be the platform to allow people to understand psychological problems. With this in mind, I am exploring issues around mental illness in the world. My goal is to make everybody be aware of how close these psychological issues are to them. Based on people's behaviors on Facebook and Instagram, I was inspired to create a “NonMovies-Project” called Project: Conversations. A Non-Movies-Project is the idea of a movie that does not actually exist. It is showing the cinematic photographs consist of subtitles as the same as images people always post on their application walls. All of the pictures are real interviews between the people who live in the nowadays world and me. The discussions give opinions and messages on how people think about mental issues. I use this project to intervene in people's messages in the hope that they will actually use them on social media, so that other people think the Non-Movies are real movies. The purpose of helping people in everybody understand how critical psychological issues are by using these non-exist movies and make them go online.
